The line resistance (also known as resistance) of the cable is the resistance of the cable per unit length. Its unit is usually ohms/meter, representing the resistance encountered when the current passes through the cable per unit length. In the process of power transmission, the line resistance of the cable will cause energy loss and heat generation, which directly affects the efficiency of power transmission.
The main influencing factors of cable resistance are:
1. Conductor material: The resistance of conductor material is one of the important factors affecting the wire resistance of cable. The conductor materials commonly used in cable lines are copper, aluminum, etc., where the resistance of copper is smaller than that of aluminum, so the wire resistance of copper cables is also smaller than that of aluminum cables.
2. Conductor cross-sectional area: The conductor cross-sectional area determines the resistance value of the conductor. The larger the cross-sectional area of the conductor, the smaller the line resistance of the cable and the higher the current transmission efficiency.
3. Cable length: Cable length is another factor affecting cable resistance, the longer the cable length, the greater the line resistance, the lower the power transmission efficiency.
4. Cable temperature: Cable temperature will also affect the resistance of the cable, under normal circumstances, the higher the cable temperature, the greater the line resistance.
How to reduce cable resistance:
1. Use high-quality conductor materials: Select high-quality conductor materials with small resistance to reduce cable resistance.
2. Increase the cross-sectional area of the conductor: Appropriately increasing the cross-sectional area of the conductor can reduce the cable resistance.
3. Control cable length: Control cable length as much as possible to avoid long-distance transmission, which can reduce cable resistance.
4. Maintain cable temperature: Avoiding high cable temperature can reduce cable resistance.
The wire resistance of cable is a factor that can not be ignored in power transmission, and its wire resistance value is affected by conductor material, conductor cross-sectional area, cable length and cable temperature. The efficiency and performance of power transmission can be improved by reducing cable resistance by technical means.
